About the Filmmaker

Quebec-born Audrey Cummings graduated from Queens University with her BAH before moving to Toronto. She fell in love with filmmaking at a young age and made her first film with her babysitter, about a crazed magician who loathed humanity. Watching Spielberg’s E.T. was also a game changer for her as it began her deep love for sci-fi and genre films.

Audrey just completed her second feature film Darken, a fantasy thriller produced by Shaftesbury/Smokebomb Films, which will begin its festival run in November 2017 and will have it’s theatrical release in May 2018.

Audrey has directed and produced several award winning films including the feature film Berkshire County which won her 9 awards including Best Director at Phoenix FearCon and the Grand Jury Prize for Best Feature Film at Shriekfest Los Angeles; making her the first female to win the award in the 17-year history of the festival. She also has several award winning short films including A Stolen Moment, Les jeux d’enfants and Burgeon and Fade, which won her the Jackson-Triggs Award for Best Emerging Canadian Filmmaker at the WorldWide Short Film Festival.

Audrey also won the WIFT Kodak New Vision Fellowship Award for Best Emerging Canadian Female Director and was the recipient of the Barry Avrich Award for Emerging Canadian Filmmaker from the Toronto International Film Festival.

Audrey is a graduate of the Canadian Film Centre’s very prestigious Director’s Lab and was further selected for the Short Dramatic Film Program as one of five Canadian directors.

Audrey is currently in development on several feature films including Last Chance, Atropos, Dysconnect, and The Venerable, as well as being hard at work creating a 1 hour sci-fi/drama television series.
